Key Points of the Holy Week Lesson:
During Holy Week we think about the Passion of Christ–powerful events of Jesus’ death. It starts with Palm Sunday and then has the special days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

Explain Holy Week:
What is Holy Week?….. [The week before Easter]
What happens when Holy Week is finished?…..[Easter Sunday]
Why do we have Holy Week?…..[to remember Jesus’ passion and death]
Read the “Story of Holy Week”:
- Read the Story of Holy Week from your computer off of the RTC Communications website.
- Print out this short 11 page book on the Story of Holy Week as posted on the the RTC Communications website. Read it together and then color the pages.
Explain the Special Services we have at Church during Holy Week:
Holy Thursday: we celebrate a special Mass in which we wash each other’s feet as Jesus did at Last Supper
Good Friday: Stations of the Cross to help us experience the suffering of Jesus and know more deeply of his great sacrifice
Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil when we celebrate the light of Jesus and bless holy oils
Craft: Jesus on the Cross
Make Jesus on the cross using these directions from Catholic Icing at http://www.catholicicing.com/religious-easter-craft-for-kids-make/ . Simply print Resurrection Set 1, cut and color Jesus and the cross, and then glue to a toilet paper tube.
What special spot in our house will you display the cross you made? Can you use it as part of a centerpiece for Easter?
